Tony Anderson

Collaboration with Tony Anderson

Tony Anderson is an American composer/producer who creates  beautiful cinematic music in the genre of Nils Frahm, Olafur Arnalds en Jóhann Jóhannsson. He combines organic instruments like an old piano, cello, violin and vocals with electronic elements. His music tells a story without words to invite the listener to connect to their own soul, dreams and inner wisdom.

March 26 his new album “Nuit” will be released. For the track “Cambodia” he asked me to collaborate on the song. As I am a huge fan of his work, I feel incredibly honored.

The Story behind "Cambodia"

“Cambodia” is about a trip to Cambodia when he was twenty.
He and his friend were shocked about the contradictions. “The breathtaking nature on one side and the stories about trafficking hit us hard”, Anderson told me.

During a trip they see something in the mud. It’s a little boy around 1,5 year old with a head wound. The two friends take the child and bring it to the nearest hospital where they refuse to help the kid until the two lads bribe the staff. After that Tony and his friend do everything in their power to find a good foster family for the boy. Later they heard the kid managed to stay alive because street dogs shared the food for their young with the child. Tony is still in contact with him. He is now 14 and doing very well.

“Cambodia is a song that has deep spiritual energy to me, and I wanted a collaborator on the song who lived on the same wavelength.
I love Eyra’s voice and her energy. She is perfect for this song.”

As COVID made it impossible for me to travel to LA. We had video calls and emails about what he had in mind with this song. When he told me the story I was deeply moved and I feel humble he let me onboard in transforming this personal story into something beautiful.

Tony: “Cambodia is a song that has deep spiritual energy to me and I wanted a collaborator on the song who lived on the same wavelenght. I love Eyra’s voice and her energy. She is perfect for this song.”

Flemish producer Ronald Vanhuffel, recorded the vocals and handpan in his studio.

“Nuit” is OUT NOW on all download and streaming platforms.
“Cambodia” will be on the album in two versions. The original and a  Remix of Ross Lara.

If you are a filmmaker the first half of the album is already live on MUSICBED for licensing.
